Editorial policy & AI disclosure

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Articles on this site are drafted with AI assistance and published only after a named human has read the draft, checked its claims against primary sources, corrected what was wrong and put their name on it. Nothing publishes automatically. This page explains exactly how that works, because you should be able to judge for yourself how much to trust what you read here.

Where AI is used

We use large language models (Claude, by Anthropic, and Gemini, by Google) to produce the first draft of most articles: the structure, the initial prose, and a starting set of claims to verify.

That draft is not an article. It is raw material. It goes into a review queue and stays unpublished until a person works through it.

What AI does

What only a human does

The publishing system enforces this: a generated draft is written to the database with its published flag off and cannot be served to a reader until it is approved by hand in our admin panel. A draft that makes claims about fees, allowances or entry rules and cites no primary source is rejected before it ever reaches the queue.

Sourcing rules

For anything that is a rule rather than an opinion — a baggage allowance, a change fee, a visa requirement, a compensation entitlement, a loyalty tier threshold — we cite the organisation that actually sets the rule, and link to it:

Claim aboutSource we cite
An airline's fees, allowances, or loyalty programmeThat airline's own website
Visa and entry requirementsThe destination government's immigration or foreign-ministry site
Passenger rights and compensationThe regulator — europa.eu for EU261, transportation.gov for US DOT, caa.co.uk for the UK

We do not cite other blogs, aggregators or comparison sites as the authority for a rule, and we never cite ourselves as one.

Prices and fees move. Where a number changes often we give a range, say so, and point you at the page that has the current figure. Every article carries the month it was last checked. A correct hedge is better than a confident number that is six months stale.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we want to know, and fixing it takes priority over publishing anything new. Email support@theflightagent.app with the article URL, the sentence that is wrong, and ideally a link to the source that contradicts it.

Verified corrections are made to the article and its last-checked date is updated. We do not quietly delete articles to make an error disappear.

Independence

The Flight Agent earns money from subscriptions and from affiliate commissions when a reader books through a link on this site. Neither buys influence over what we write:

About articles published before September 2026

We are stating this plainly rather than hiding it. Between May and September 2026 this blog ran an automated daily publishing pipeline in which AI-generated posts went live without a human reading them first. That was a mistake and it has been stopped — the human review step described above became mandatory in September 2026.

Posts from that earlier period are being reviewed against these standards one by one. Those that hold up are being re-checked, sourced and kept; those that do not are being corrected or removed. Older posts that have not yet been through this pass may lack the source links described above. If you find a claim on one you cannot verify, please tell us and it will move to the front of the queue.
